Velma J. Johnson is the President and owner of 3-J Communication Design & Services, Inc., who retired from AT&T Texas, formerly Southwestern Bell Telephone (SBC) with 30 years of experience in the telecommunication industry in outside plant engineering design, construction, and services.
Velma attended the
University of Houston in Houston, TX where she obtained a BS in Business Administration/Business Technology. She is a lifelong learner of communication network systems with over 25 years of consistent professional training and development. She completed her Project Management Studies course work at the University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, TX.
Velma’s career has afforded her the opportunity to grow in communication performance and services; and to see communication move from basic telephone service to internet to broadband (DSL) and today, to Lightspeed (video).
Her experience has given her a diversified aspect of outside plant field engineering in the areas of design layout, placement, removal, and relocation of conduit, pole line, copper and fiber optic cable; designing for mixed environments - aerial, buried, or underground conditions.
She possesses a strong technical knowledge and ability in the placement, delivery, transmission integrity, and construction of telephone communication cable lines and services. Her expertise includes the delivery of services such as Pots, T1s, ISDN, SONET (OC3, OC12, OC48, OC192, GIGAMAN, OPT-E-MAN, Broadband (DSL), Lightspeed , and Fiber to the Home (FTTX); and technical background on equipment such as SONET (FLM150, FLM600), FLASHWAVE 4100, 4300, 4500; Pair Gain Technology (SLC-96, Series-5, DISC*S), LITESPAN Technology (DSL/ADSL), Extended Range DSL (ERDSL), and Video Remote Access Devices (VRAD). She also has a sound knowledge on PC software applications such as MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Project Manager.
Velma has delivered original and complex communication design solutions for land and site developments, public and private infrastructures, multi-dwelling units (MDUs), and transportation projects. Over the course of her career, she has engineered and designed over 2500 projects to provide telecommunication networks to residential neighborhoods, building structures, utility road relocations, and disaster recovery. Some of her major accomplishments were on projects for Hillwood Land Developments, The Alliance Business Corridor & Airport, Texas Motor Speedway, American Airlines, Radio Shack, Solana (IBM, Verizon, Sabre, & Citigroup), AIG & Pier One; residential developments such as Trophy Club, Tour 18, and Hogan Glen; strip/retail commercial developments such as The Villages of Colleyville, Colleyville Town Center; government installation such as Tarrant County, Independent Schools and Districts, Burlington RR, Texas Department of Transportation, cities, counties and state governments.
Her civil knowledge of road construction plans has left her with the ability to read, interpret, project manage, redesign, and coordinate with TXDOT on the relocation of telephone facilities on road improvement projects;.
She has excellent public relations skills which has afforded her the opportunity to work with various city municipalities such as Ft. Worth, Roanoke, Westlake, Trophy Club, Flower Mound, North Richland Hills, Hurst, Colleyville, and Watauga; high profile clients such as mayors, state and federal representatives, and county commissioners; construction general contractors, developers, and electricians.
As President and owner of 3-J Communication Design & Services, Inc, Velma will oversee the day to day operations of the corporation. She will provide technical support either through engineering design or as a consultant on the placement, removal, or construction of communication conduit and/or cable lines into or on public or private developments. .
Joseph K. Johnson (Kenneth) is the Vice President and one of the owners of 3-J Communication Design & Services, Inc. As an employee for Xerox Corporation for 30 years, Kenneth worked in various job assignments starting as a service technician. For nine years, he worked and was trained on over 14 different engineering product lines of copiers. He worked as a service support analyst and infrastructure support specialist managing a state-wide roll out of laptop computers by loading applications and troubleshooting network connections and functionality. He provided 2nd level (TIER II) help desk support on hardware and software problems to the field technicians. As an analyst, he developed, created, and generated various reports for service managers while maintaining asset records on the company’s state-wide vehicles and communication devices.
Kenneth has over 25 years of experience in diversified aspects of computer networks and configuration. He attended the University of Houston in Houston, TX and has obtained his certification as a Novel Engineer and as a Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCP, MCP+1, MCSE). Kenneth’s computer expertise includes: PC networking and operating systems which includes DOS, Novell NetWare v4.x, Windows, MS Windows NT, Microsoft XP. He is proficient in hardware diagnostics with PCs, printers, routers, and network cards. He demonstrates strong technical, communication and asset management skills in Information Technology support including maintaining networks, personal computers, and network administration & installation. He has strong technical knowledge and training in PC software applications such as Access, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project Manager, and Outlook.
As Vice President and owner of 3-J Communication Design & Services, Inc., Kenneth will oversee and maintain the financial asset management, data, and records of the corporation. As a professional communication network solution consultant, Kenneth will provide support to consumers and business clients in the area of PC networking, installation, troubleshooting, broadband (DSL) and software installation. |
